Together, these groups serve more than 10 million people a year and have a collective budget of more than $400 million.

Social Edge is a project of the Skoll Foundation that aims to connect social entrepreneurs and allies to discuss issues shaping the field. Social Edge’s web site has a number of articles on social enterprise, publishes a monthly electronic newsletter, and hosts issue-based web discussion groups.

Founded in 2005 as a spin-off from the Yale-Goldman Sachs Partnership for Nonprofit Ventures, SocialReturns aims to grow the practice of social entrepreneurship among nonprofits throughout the world. Programs include a social enterprise business plan competition, a university network of faculty and students teaching and studying social enterprise, a website of resources, and an annual conference and awards ceremony.

Yale-Goldman Sachs Partnership on Nonprofit Ventures

Since its founding in 2002, the Yale-Goldman Sachs Partnership on Nonprofit Ventures has operated an annual National Business Plan Competition for Nonprofit Organizations, the first of its kind in the United States. In the first three years of the competition, there have been over 1,000 entrants. The partnership provides winners with both cash awards and hundreds of hours of technical assistance to implement their plans. The group also publishes research and case studies.
