National Association
of Seed and Venture Funds

NASVF began in 1993 as an ad-hoc group of practitioners seeking
the best models to encourage capital formation in their states,
particularly for new technology ventures. These founders continued
to meet each year and in 1997 formally incorporated the group as
the National Association of State Venture Funds. The name was changed
in 2000 to reflect the Association's expanding service to local
networks of private investors. The group’s weekly on-line
newsletter provides a wealth of articles documenting state venture
capital efforts.

The National Association of State and Local Equity Funds (NASLEF)
is a professional, nonprofit association formed in 1994 to promote
the efficient management of state and local equity funds. Collectively,
member funds have created or rehabilitated more than 45,000 units
of affordable housing and have raised $2.1 billion in equity capital
for rental housing developments throughout the United States.

NASRA is a non-profit association whose members are the directors
of the nation’s state, territorial, and some of the larger
local public retirement systems. NASRA members oversee retirement
systems that hold more than $1.8 trillion in assets and that provide
pension and other benefits to more than two-thirds of all state
and local government employees. Among many available resources on
its web site is its survey of public pension funds, which provides
an overview of the size and asset allocation of statewide public
pension funds.

NAST is an association that links state treasurers across the country.
In 24 states, state treasurers manage tobacco settlement funds and
30 states have local investment pools. NAST also sponsors a number
of conferences, some of which include presentations on such topics
as economically targeted investments.

interest to public pension trustees.
