Milwaukee Community Service Corps

Established in 1991, Milwaukee Community Service Corps (MCSC) is a nonprofit vocational training organization providing employment, education, and life skills training to Milwaukee’s at-risk youth. As part of its program, it engages youth in projects that improve the Milwaukee community and conserve the environment, such as beach clean-ups and home rehabilitations. Demonstrating its approach, MCSC involved about 300 program participants in the redevelopment of a vacant building in one of the city’s poorest neighborhoods into new office space for the organization, a project which not only taught youth job skills but also is catalyzing new development in the surrounding area.
